Visiting Alsace

Colmar holidays are a great way to discover the typical region of Alsace. Located in the east of France, the picturesque town offers an exceptional wealth of wonders. First, the town boasts an 13th century cultural heritage, and a stroll in the town is a true discovery: enjoy the typical Alsacian architecture, the colourful fishermen’s houses or the lovely 16th and 17th century buildings in the little cobbled streets. The medieval old town, called la petite Venise boasts lovely houses alongside the river banks. And don’t forget to look up to discover the famous 17th century Maison des Têtes (literally House of Heads) covered with hundred animal heads and faces. Do not forget to pay a visit to the Unterlinden Museum where you will be amazed by the Isenheim Alterpiece, a 16th century altarpiece in perfect condition.

Discovering the Alsace wine Route

Comar is perfectly located to follow la route des vins d’Alsace (the Alsace wine route). It is a beautiful way to explore the traditional villages of the region as well as to learn more about the wines produces. The route stretches for more than 170 kilometres from north to south and is a great opportunity to visit vineyards (Alsace boasts over 50 wines classified Grand Cru) and to admire the Vosges mountains and unspoiled Alsace villages.
