I don't know why everyone is giving such bad reviews! We were very wary of going after reading all of the negative reviews, but we are so glad that we did go. In my opinion, some of the negative remarks are based on peoples' personal preferences or just plain ...silly..
Yes you need a car to get there - but you know that beforehand. You can literally see on maps and read other people's reviews, that it sits right on top of a steep mountainside. Yes there are hardly any loungers available at times, but that is not a problem specific to this resort, that is a global problem at resorts worldwide. If you have a problem with that, then do what we and a lot of other people also did: you just get up early enought to go and stand in the queue 20 minutes before the pool opens - and you can get your loungers for the day. There are indeed some long hairs drifting around in the pool by the end of the day, but that's also normal after 10 hours of people swimming! That's also not a problem specific to this resort - it happens everywhere. It's not like to pool opens with all the filth from yesterday; in fact the water is super clean when they open and for the most part of the day.
Yes the buildings are not in a perfect state and some of the furniture is outdated, but so what!? These are the kind of remarks coming from someone who is then clearly used to a 5 star hotel. If something as insignificant as that bothers you, then why are you staying there in the first place? You go there for a summer holiday - you are out at the pool or at the beach most of the time anyway, so why would it bother you if the don't have the most modern chairs or if the paint is peeling a bit? I for one, did not book to go there for their furniture or the appearance of the outside of the building.
There are a lot of valid negative remarks, but fortunately we weren't affected by any of them: The music from the kids club performances are very loud and do go on until very late at night, but our apartment was far away enough that we were not bothered by it. In the almost two weeks we were staying there, the water was off exactly once and that was only one afternoon until about 18h00, then it went on again. We always had hot water as well. Obviously you will always get someone who plays their music too loud or who scraped their chairs around above you at ridiculous times at night/in the morning hours, but we didn't have that problem. Yes, some of the staff don't speak English very well, but that's not their fault - you are a tourist in THEIR country. It is called Google translate... There were some comments about the aircons not working, but ours worked for the entire time.
We only experienced two negative things: The cutlery in the drawer is filthy and basically everything you take out to use, you will have to wash first yourself. The matresses on the beds are extremely hard and if you suffer from back problems like I do, you will suffer from back pain the entire time. Fortunately the mattresses on the couches in the living area are much softer, so they're great to sleep on.
The good points: They apartments and pools are HUGE, the views are unbeatable, they have a poolside bar where you can order drinks and food (and sip your cocktail by the pool or eat your food - it's only glass that's not allowed), they have a launderette, a shop, a restaurant, a play area, a games room, a little soccer field and more than enough parking.
If you are doubting whether you should go based on the bad reviews, just do yourself a favour and go. You will NOT regret it. We had an amazing holiday and we (and the kids) enjoyed it SO much!!
