Menton town hall was built in the Italian style. The building is home to a splendid wedding hall created by the poet Jean Cocteau. Jean Cocteau lived in Menton for a few years before his death in 1963.

At the request of the Mayor Francis Palmero, Jean Cocteau decorated the room between 1957 and 1958. The artist did everything, from the murals to the wooden doors, the candelabras and the imitation leopard skin rugs.

Menton Fine Arts Museum - Carnolès Palace

The Menton Museum of Fine Arts has moved to the former Palace of the Princes of Monaco. Indeed, the Palais de Carnolès alone is well worth the visit and the collections of paintings and works of art on show there definitely merit the detour.

Admire the gilded doors, the delicate woodwork and the magnificent ceiling that make this place a splendid setting for the paintings of the great masters. The museum houses paintings from the early Italian and Flemish schools and also boasts a large collection of modern art including paintings from the School of Paris. Visitors are also free to stroll in the gardens of the Palace, where they will discover more than 70 contemporary sculptures.

  • Jardin Botanique Exotique du Val Rahmeh

Jardin Botanique Exotique du Val Rahmeh

Formerly private, the Val Rahmeh Exotic Botanical Garden has been open to the public since 1967. Thanks to the exceptional Menton climate, many exotic plants were successfully introduced, including specimens of Sophora Toromiro (which has disappeared from Easter Island).

The botanical garden contains other treasures, including some olive trees that are over 400 years old, not counting numerous other exotic species. A genuine place of research in the heart of the city, a visit to the Val Rahmeh Exotic Botanical Garden represents a wonderful journey to the four corners of the world!

Musée Jean Cocteau, Séverin Wunderman Collection

The Musée Jean Cocteau, Séverin Wunderman Collection presents the work of the poet from the 1910s to the 1950s and offers visitors exhibition spaces for collections and temporary exhibitions, an educational workshop, a graphic art office and a documentary resource area.
The museum visit continues to the Bastion, the layout of which was designed by Jean Cocteau between 1958 and 1963. The drawings of the Innamorati, the studies for the décor for the wedding hall, as well as the pottery created in the Madeline-Jolly workshop are presented there.

  • Vieux Port de Menton

    Vieux Port de Menton

The municipal port or Old Port of Menton sits at the foot of the old town, dominated by the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel.

The Bastion built by Honoré II, Prince of Monaco and home to the Jean Cocteau Museum forms the entrance to the port.

Alongside the port, the long Sablette beach awaits for tourists and yachtsmen to enjoy a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean Sea.

The Old Port of Menton, a great place to stop for yachtsmen who want to discover the region.
