Domaine du Rayol/Le Jardin des Méditerranées

The Domaine du Rayol is a 20 hectare protected natural area, owned by the Conservatoire du littoral (French coastal protection agency), at the foot of the Massif des Maures and opposite the Îles d'Hyères, in Var, between Le Lavandou and Saint-Tropez.
The landscape gardener Gilles Clément designed the Jardin des Méditerranées there, an invitation on a journey through the Mediterranean landscapes of the world and landscapes with a more arid or sub-tropical climate.

    Chapelle Sainte-Anne de Saint-Tropez

A visit to the attractive 17th century Chapelle Sainte-Anne in Saint-Tropez is above all a chance to admire one of the finest views of the bay and the famous port of Saint-Tropez.

It was originally constructed to thank God for sparing Saint-Tropez from the plague.

  • Massif des Maures

    Massif des Maures

Seventy per cent of the Var, which is one of the most densely wooded regions in France, is covered by forest. The Massif des Maures mountain range, between Fréjus and Hyères is one of the largest wooded areas in the Var. Cork oaks thrive in its schistose soil; their dark, leathery leaves provide shelter for the lizards, birds of prey and Hermann tortoises - a protected species seen only in Corsica and the Massif des Maures - who make their home here.

Take a hike along the scenic paths and discover, at your own pace, this bewitching national treasure, sadly under threat from summer forest fires.

  • Fort de Brégançon

    Fort de Brégançon

Fort de Brégançon is one of the most beautiful sites of Bormes-les-Mimosas and bears witness to a rich history. This islet was conquered by the Greeks in 400 BC. It served as a trading post. The rock then became a stronghold. A fort would be built in the 11thth century. This place bore witness to great figures and historic events (Napoleon, the First World War, etc.) before becoming the official residence of the French president in 1968. François Hollande decided to open it to the public.
