Built in 1300 by Rainier Grimaldi, Lord of Cagnes-sur-Mer, the château that bears his name, now houses a museum. The castle served as a fortress and defensive lookout for two centuries. It was transformed into a stately home in 1620. Its architecture was then modified to add the monumental gateway surmounted by the Balcon d'Honneur, still visible today.

A listed historical monument, the Château Grimaldi houses the Museum of the Olive Tree, the Solidor donation, and baroque painted ceilings. Numerous temporary exhibitions of contemporary art are held at the Grimaldi Chateau Musée.
