While the edges of Lacanau Lake are shallow (1 to 2m), at its widest, Lacanau Lake can reach up up to 8m.
Dotted with islands, Lacanau Lake with its Bird island and Goat island, is a special place where fauna and flora flourish.

Carcans-Maubuisson lake to the north-west of Bordeaux covers 6,000 hectares, making it the largest natural freshwater lake in France.

This nature reserve is hidden by the dune-lined coastline and the national forest of Lacanau, which allows it to preserve a great diversity of original landscapes. Over a 7km trail, you can visit this natural area as a family, and wander the trails for a short hike.
Dunes, primary forests, giant ferns and extensive marshes compose the different areas of this tranquil spot, including a pond around which it's pleasant to sit and picnic.
