Fantastic hotel with friendly attentive staff. Great location. My only improvement in my opinion would be better pillows in the rooms and an oven over a microwave.
Best spot for the ski-in-ski-out straight to the slope. ESF training centre is right at the corner as well? Not a proper 5 star but consider the price we paid it is very very good. Spa and Sauna facilities are great, reception is there 24/7 if you need anything.
We loved our week in Flaine, staying at Les Terrasses d'Hélios. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which had a small kitchenette which had a dishwasher, microwave and 4 electric hobs. There was a kettle, filter coffee machine and a Nespresso coffee pod machine and a large fridge.
The living room was large with a big balcony having beautiful views across to Flaine and Les Grandes Platières. There was a separate shower and separate toilet and the main bedroom has an adjoining bathroom and toilet.
The inside pool, sauna and steam room are free and great. The outside jacuzzi tub was warm but not hot, however the views of the surrounding mountains when sat in the tub were spectacular.
Whilst the hotel is slightly out of Flaine its is serviced by the navette and once that stops the hotel has a free minibus which operates from 18:30 to midnight - just call the driver and they take or collect you from/to Lift No1 (funicular) which goes from Flaine Forêt to Flaine Forum. We did walk from the hotel a few times, it’s a 20 min walk depending on snowfall.
It is truly ski in/ski out - the green Opale run takes you to the hotel from the top of the Gerats chair, which closes at 16:35hrs or just take the navette if after this time.
Within the hotel complex is a small ski shop which has a coffee shop ipstairs inside, there is a restaurant and a Spa Shop which serves on alternative evenings freshly cooked Crozette, Tartiflette or rotisserie chicken and potatoes.
Our ski locker had boot warmers for 6 pairs of boots and just enough room to fit our 4 snowboards in. The ski locker door led directly on to the Opale piste.
I loved the location of the hotel as a short ride down the piste led to the Grands Vans chair, giving access to Samoëns, Les Carroz and Morillon or you could continue on the piste and into Flaine for all the pistes there.
Hotel reception offers fresh daily bread and patisserie, this has to be ordered before 18:30 the day before and is done using a tablet.
All staff that we encountered were amazing, so friendly and so professional.
On the final day our holiday all the lifts broke down but the hotel employed extra staff to carry luggage to and from the baggage store.
Download the free Grand Massif app for real time lift and piste updates.
