    • Castillo de Santa Ana

      Castillo de Santa Ana

Head for Roquetas de Mar to discover the Castillo de Santa Ana, a 17th-century fortification that served as a refuge for the few inhabitants of the area.
The inhabitants lived mainly in the port area. Therefore, the only way to protect themselves from the attacks of pirates and corsairs was to take refuge within this fortification.
Most of the building was unfortunately destroyed, but many elements were rebuilt.
So you can always admire the beauty of this monument which today serves as a cultural venue: exhibitions and concerts are regularly organised there.

    • Roquetas de Mar lighthouse

      Roquetas de Mar lighthouse

For a long time, the Roquetas de Mar lighthouse guided boats and then served as accommodation for the person in charge of the city's port, before new facilities were built.
A restoration operation then commenced, restoring the former beauty of this historical landmark.
Today, the lighthouse remains an exhibition venue where visitors can admire various works of art.
The lighthouse is located within a cultural complex that includes the amphitheatre and Santa Ana castle, equally fascinating historical buildings.

      Paraje Natural Punta Entinas-Sabinar

Punta Entinas-Sabinar Nature Reserve is one of the best preserved areas of sand dunes on the Iberian Peninsula. It is also home to long stretches of fine sandy beaches. The vegetation has adapted to the specific conditions of the area such as sandy ground, high temperatures, very little water and high concentrations of salt.
As for wildlife, there are lots of sea birds, including several species of gulls.
Posidonia meadows thrive on the seabed.

      Punta Entinas-Sabinar Nature Reserve

The perfect place for nature lovers, the Punta Entinas-Sabinar nature reserve covers a fringe about a kilometre wide between the sea shore and the Los Alcores hills. There are several natural habitats to be found in this one nature reserve: sandy beaches, dunes held in place by mediterranean scrub, an area of salt water lakes, and salt marshlands. This diversity of habitat means there are numerous vertebrates to be seen here, in particular shore birds such as the curlew, the flamingo and the seagull.

    • The Alcazaba of Almeria

      The Alcazaba of Almeria

You will be enchanted by the Alcazaba of Almeria, a palace of Arab origin erected during the reign of Abd al-Rahman III in the middle of the tenth century. This impressive construction consists of three sections: the first would have been dwellings and communal baths, which have now been replaced by gardens. The second contained the palatial rooms. The third holds the remains of a castle built by Catholic kings after taking the city in 1489. Steeped in history, the Alcazaba of Almeria represents an architectural and historical wealth that is sure to captivate you.
