Gorges de la Diosaz
In the Chamonix Valley, the Gorges de la Diosaz is a natural wonder that offers some truly spectacular views. Only accessible between June and September, the Gorges de la Diosaz area is best explored with a walk which should take around an hour and a half, along an easy track (not suitable for pushchairs). The trail leads you past a number of panels which explain the history and geology of the region around the Gorges de la Diosaz. As you walk among the reliefs carved by erosion, the roaring torrent and the bubbling waterfalls you cannot fail to appreciate the wild and grandiose nature of this unique spot.
Le Jaillet Cable Car
The view from the Le Jaillet cable car is a spectacular one, taking in the entire ski area of Le Jaillet, Megève, and mountains as far as the eye can see in the Mont-Blanc area. A whole range of trails are just waiting to be explored.
Visiting with the family? Go for a little walk around the lower woods, exploring the Mont Blanc mountain valley, or simply follow the marked trail from just below the Le Jaillet cable car stop which takes you down to the ski resort of Megève.
A longer walking circuit, also starting from the cable car will take you through a splendid pine forest, with the majestic sight of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain as a backdrop.
From the top of the Le Jaillet cable car, you can also reach the peak of the Christomet mountain, which straddles two departments: Savoie and Haute-Savoie. You will also have a panoramic view of Mont Blanc and the highest peaks of the Maurienne and Tarentaise mountains.
Merlet Animal Park
Merlet Animal Park is the perfect opportunity to observe up close more than 80 animal species that live wild in the mountains. During a 1 or 2 hr walk, you can meet all kinds of animals.
Chamois, marmots, ibex, sheep, fallow deer or Sika deer are the most famous players from this wild herd likely to come face to face with a group of visitors at a bend in the path. In summer, free entertainment is put on.
Bérard Waterfall is part of the Vallon de Bérard nature reserve, home to typical mountain wildlife, and where you'll see birds and insects fly overhead during migration periods. Behind the waterfall lies the entrance to a hidden cave that has been the source of many legends. This natural setting is the ideal location for a relaxing time-out. There is a snack bar with a beautiful terrace in the sun. Around the waterfall are several fantastic walks, one of which takes you through the traditional hamlet of Poya, once home to the village goatherds.
