Filthy, cramped place! Rooms are filthy and furniture has passed its sell by date long time ago. Since 1990 nothing has changed in a way of deco or cleanliness. On the day of our departure there was ONE young lady in the reception trying to check out more than 100 people. Shameful place.
If my bedding in this building had been used to give a Brazilian wax it wouldn’t have had more pubic hair on it than it did. Absolutely vile. I filtered the Google reviews of this place for the worst reviews, and I experienced just about everything everyone said just on my 4-night stay here (harassment by young idiots in the elevator, drunken noise, utter filth, general inconvenience at every turn, feeling totally unsafe, etc.) This was my first trip to Val Thorens and despite the mountain itself being spectacular, I’ll likely never return after my experience being totally ripped off here. For the love of god, stay somewhere else. If they were to snap their fingers and improve this place by 6000xs overnight, it would still be worse than just camping outside at 3000m in January. I hope the people responsible for this travesty of an enterprise end up rotting in prison, or worse, having to live in this place for 3 months.
Nice enough location but everywhere is in VT. Staff are not nice, facilities are poor, smells, everything feels duct taper together, and too expensive for what it is. A lift is always broken, the stairs are dirty, and I wouldn’t come again.
I'll start with the positive which is the location. It couldn't be any better. It is directly on the slopes, perfect for all abilities, the baby slope and magic carpets are the first thing you come across with the chair lifts and gondola just beyond them. There is a SPAR (definitely not SPA), on site which is good and has everything you may need. That's where the good news ends... The room I was in was supposed to be for 5 people, we were a group of 3 men. The room was very small and basic, with a double bedroom and 2x sofa beds, right next to each other, one of which folded out to a double. If there were 5 of us, 3x people were supposed to sleep in the sofa beds, not ideal... The bath towels don't go round fully grown man. Rooms aren't cleaned until after check out. WiFi very slow, don't be expecting to stream anything in your room after a day on the slopes. The boot room was beyond basic. Again our "locker" if you can call it that, was supposed to be for 5, we couldn't fit 3 people's gear in it. It was simply a tall wooden box. Gear got lost at the bottom, sliding into the box next to it. No heating to dry equipment/boots, no seats in the area for getting ready. We ended up taking our boots & helmets to our room every night as they would end up wetter if we left them in the box. The corridors were dark & dangerous. At my first view of them, my immediate thought was how many people have been hurt here! Going down stairs in darkness with equipment is not safe. The daily farce on the lift was infuriating! Soooo many people trying to use the lifts that looked like they were commissioned in 1950.they were slow and not enough for the number of people who required them. The room stunk of weed every night from others smoking on their balcony, which tbh I'm not fussed about, but others may be. Check in/out day (Saturday) was organised chaos! The girls on the front desk done a great job, but there simply wasn't enough of them. We waited for over an hour what looked like hundreds of people tried to come and go. The ski rental on site was efficient but basic equipment, I upgraded my skis for €20 and what I recieved was still very basic, however as I said the rental process was efficient and without issue. This hotel is 100% aimed at a young crowed who do not want any form of luxury. I have no idea how much my group paid for package as it was a work trip but I really hope it wasn't more than a. 6 day ski pass.
