Residence in the heart of the medieval town of Loches, near the Loire Valley châteaux. Train station just steps away. Private parking at the foot of the building.
Magnificent view of the old town from the apartment terrace.
Very well-equipped apartment, with windows on both sides and located on the edge of a stream, so temperature regulation is easy.
Swimming pool, children's play area...
Professional and attentive staff.
Wonderful stay.
We will gladly return.
A pleasant town, well-located for visiting the castles and Beauval Zoo.
The residence is very nice, the pool is adequate for teenagers, and the view from the first-floor apartment is lovely, but the loggia faces south, so it gets sun for a good part of the afternoon and all evening, which isn't ideal during a heatwave.
There's no air conditioning, but a fan is provided. Thankfully!
It was a bit noisy due to arrivals and departures every day, and our bedroom windows overlooked the metal staircase.
So, overall, a rather pleasant stay that would have deserved 5 stars if we had had a better-located apartment within the residence.
A quick review after a week's stay at this establishment.
Let's start with the positives: the location, the pool, and the private parking (you'll understand why this is a plus on market days).
Now for what will spoil your vacation. First, the soundproofing is completely nonexistent. You'll be sharing a good part of your neighbors' vacation, whether they're moving around or in their own apartments (even the toilets flushing, just so you know exactly what they're doing). Special mention goes to the metal staircases with grating steps right in front of the bedroom doors and windows. Brilliant design.
As for the temperature, it's no surprise that if the acoustics aren't addressed, it's just as disastrous. The large bay windows facing the sun are great in winter, but in summer they're like an oven.
The cleanliness leaves much to be desired. The sheets are stained, as are some of the curtains, one of which showed signs of mold. The walls and furniture are clearly marked by various impacts. The space between the bathroom vanity and the bathtub hadn't seen a wipe of cleanliness in ages.
The interior layout of the rooms, especially the bedrooms, is very poorly designed. One bedroom window doesn't open fully because it's blocked by the bunk beds. The other bedroom is no better; you have to choose between leaving the door open or the window open, and of course, forget about putting anything on the vanity. There's very little room to maneuver; all the rooms are very narrow (except the living room), and the access to the top bunk is far too limited.
While the pool is a plus, there are a few issues to note: just look up into the space under the building and you'll see what I mean, and the liner is peeling off in almost every spot.
Limited supplies provided: 3 x 30L garbage bags, 1 roll of toilet paper for 1 week. In Loches Sud Touraine, residents produce an average of 170kg/year of household waste and 43kg/year of recyclables. For 3 people for 1 week, this equates to approximately 100L of household waste and 50L of recyclables. Therefore, please plan your supplies before arriving; the provided amount is only enough to last until you can do some grocery shopping.
Beautifully located on the banks of the Indre River.
The building has been nicely restored, providing a peaceful setting in a town just waiting to be explored.
(It's a shame the cleaning wasn't fully done before our arrival; the floor in the main room and marks on the kitchen furniture explain the 3 out of 5 stars.)
Welcoming and attentive staff.
With two children, the swimming pool and ping-pong table were a huge plus.
The town center, shops, restaurants, and castles are all less than a 5-minute walk away.
For 5 days, the car remained in the parking lot. As a service, bread and pastries for breakfast are available to order the day before.
Very satisfied.
