Along this 3 km promontory, you can note the effects of time and weather on the natural landscape. The wind and the waves, have shaped the rocks of this coastline. In some spots, the cliffs tower 300 metres above the sea. Don't miss the view from the Formentor lighthouse - it offers a new perspective over this tongue of land protruding into the sea.
Don't miss Santueri Castle, a former strategic land and sea defence which stands 423 metres above sea level. This fascinating castle is full of history: if all of the ruins which are currently preserved date back to medieval times, it is likely that the site would have been occupied during pre-historic times! Traces of Roman and Byzantine occupation can also be found. It goes without saying, this is one of Majorca's major monuments - and was declared a site of cultural interest in 1949. As well as the castle, enjoy magnificent views of Majorca and, on a clear day, views of the island of Cabrera and even Menorca.
Discover Mondragó Natural Park, with its varied vegetation and numerous water birds. Discover cultivated areas, evergreen oak plantations and masses of junipers. Admire the sea cliffs and rush beds. And if you visit the park in winter, you may even be lucky enough to see the flocks of grey and purple herons and little egrets.
This beach which is quite possibly the most famous on the island of Mallorca has everything it takes to charm visitors: 2km of white sand, crystal clear water and an azure blue sea. Es Trenc beach has managed to keep its natural and unspoilt feel, which is an additional bonus for swimmers and sunbathers.
The cherry on the cake - the sea is usually calm in this area, which is ideal for children who can swim in complete safety.
