    Centre Miró

The Centre Miró, located in Mont-Roig del Camp, is focused on the life and work of the painter Joan Miró, who arrived in Mont-Roig del Camp in 1911 when he was 18 years old and quickly fell under the charm of the landscapes of this place, which inspired him artistically. Since 2004, the Centre Miró allows you to discover facsimiles of Miró's work, which is spread out in various museums around the world. A true blessing for all art lovers, who will have the pleasure of exploring the village's old church housing the Centre Miró - the church Miró depicted in his painting "Poble i església de Mont-roig" (1919).

  • The new church of Sant Miquel

The new church of Sant Miquel

The new church of Sant Miquel was built in 1801 but remains unfinished today. To erect such a large monument, a block of 22 houses had to be demolished - because of its size this church is also commonly called the "Cathedral of the Costa Daurada". In the twelfth century, a castle stood in the location of today's church. Previous periods of prosperity, war and peace have impacted the church's construction, which explains its current incomplete state. In spite of this, the church's first mass was celebrated in 1947. The internal frescos, created in the 1960s by Jaume Minguell, are of particular note in this classically-styled church.

  • Cambrils Town Centre

    Cambrils Town Centre

In the coastal town of Cambrils, life revolves around the harbour. Go for a stroll here and get up close to the defensive tower that watches over the port: it's visible from quite a distance. You will also see the castle, an ancient fortress built by the Baron of Vilafortuny which is now a holiday resort. As you walk, you will notice the square form of the old Telegraph Tower, known as El Telégrafo de l’Esquirol. Also worth a visit its the sanctuary of El Camí, with its crypt and watchtower.

  • Barenys Roman Villa Archaeological Park

    Barenys Roman Villa Archaeological Park

Visit the Barenys Roman Villa Archaeological Park and discover the remains of a Roman settlement dating from the 1st, to the middle of the 2nd century BC. Ceramics were produced on the site, which included a purpose-built rectangular building. The massive kiln, 3 1/2 metres in diameter which was used for firing ceramics can be seen: the lower section, where the fire was lit as well as the perforated grid which let the heat pass through to fire the ceramics have been retained.  Next to the kiln are the remains of a large, columned space which most likely housed the potters' workshops.
