Things to see and do
St-Martin Basilica in Aime
Built in the eleventh century on the foundations of an early Christian church, Saint Martin Basilica in Aime, an ancient Benedictine worshipping place, is admirably preserved evidence of the finest Roman art. The apse preserves exceptional murals from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Latin inscriptions and frescoes from the twelfth century decorate a triumphal arch. A place full of history and ancient tradition.
Golf Le Chantel
The Chantel Golf Course is one of the two golf courses of Les Arcs. Overlooking the Tarentaise, this 18 hole course is enhanced by breathtaking views of the ski area and Mont Blanc.
Its varied terrain is an opportunity for golfers to work the full range of their shots: drive, putting, swing…
Experienced players will find it a high quality course to challenge their skills, beginners will also find it suited to their needs.
Moûtiers History and Archaeology Museum
The five rooms of the Museum of History and Archeology will reveal Moutiers over the centuries, from prehistoric times to the late 19th century.
This museum is an offshoot of the Academy of Val d'Isere, a learned society founded in 1865 with the aim of researching the history of the valley, collecting and presenting to the public testimonies of daily life in the past. The museum is housed in the synodal room within the palace of the Archbishops of Tarentaise.
Enter a fantasy world where silence reigns supreme and where ice is the medium for art of a different kind. A visit to la Grotte de Glace in Bourg Saint Michel is a chance to sample something completely different. You'll marvel at the giant sculptures and be astounded by their purity; indeed they are reminiscent of lumps of precious stone. There is a new theme every year, resulting in impressive, original creations.
La Vanoise National Park
The Vanoise National Park is dominated by mountains that soar to an altitude of over 3800m, on which glaciers slowly slide. This park is located between the high valleys of the Maurienne and the Tarentaise. Sheltered by oceanic rains, the Massif de la Vanoise has a relatively low rainfall and a sunny climate. The central area of ??the Park is mainly on the subalpine and alpine levels.
The Vanoise National Park is one of France's best national parks, boasting more than 100 peaks and 500km of trails.
