    • St-Martin Basilica in Aime

      St-Martin Basilica in Aime

Located on the road from Milan to Vienna, this museum space is at the heart of a valley which was very popular with the Romans, who liked the climate here. Under Roman rule, the town became the capital of the Alpes Graies province.

Objects exhibited at the Pierre Borrione Museum bear witness to this era, as do the foundations of a Roman building. These foundations are now partly covered by a church, a jewel of Savoy Romanesque art: the Basilica of St. Martin was classed as a historic monument in 1875.

Although it is no longer a place of worship, the church invites contemplation and silence. Explore the semi-subterranean crypt, Roman engraved stones and twelfth century frescoes.

Discover this veritable work of art which sees a dozen sculptors from all over Europe come and create their own works of art each year. Stroll through these galleries which have been dug out and shaped by man, taking almost 100 days each year to prefect! Don't miss this rather special mountain wonder.
