      Château d'Abbadia

      In 1864 Antoine d'Abbadie started to have a Gothic inspired château built. He wanted to house his family, his library and his observatory there. A great scientist and explorer, he chose to set up home in Landes and entrusted the construction of his house to the architect Viollet-le-Duc. At his death, the house was bequeathed to the Academy of Sciences and today it's open to tourists and visitors.

These views stretch over the former corsair cities, along the Basque coast.
