Dubrovnik is rightly named the Pearl of the Adriatic for the beauty of its coastline. The city itself was granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status for its amazingly rich cultural heritage. A weekend in Dubrovnik is an amazing opportunity for a change of scenery in a beautiful environment.
Dubrovnik is famous for its defensive walls which encircle the entire town. Some of them date back to the 13th century and Dubrovnik breaks are a great opportunity for a romantic walk along these amazing walls. Within the city wall, the old town is entirely built of white stones and mixes Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings, from palaces to churches. What better than taking a cable car during your weekend breaks to Dubrovnik? This one will take you 778 metres high in less than 5 minutes to discover a breath-taking view on the city and the Adriatic Sea. The old port, built in the 15th century, is also an excellent place to chill out, have a drink and enjoy the Croatian way of life.
The Adriatic Sea is a great opportunity spend a weekend by the beach. The Dubrovnik area offers a coastline with many pebble (and some sandy!) beaches with crystal clear waters. Banje Beach is the most popular beach in Dubrovnik. It is the closest to the old town. Less crowded than Banje Beach, Sv. Jakov Beach is located uphill and it a great beach to spend the day at. It also offers a beautiful view on the old town and the island Lokrum. Betina Cave Beach is a once in a lifetime visit ! it is in fact a small cave beach only reachable from the sea, quite easily if you book a kayaking tour.
