And if you want to get out of Lisbon centre:
- Belém (7 km away): This district of Lisbon is well known for Jerónimos Monastery, the famous Belém Tower and its renowned pastéis de nata - Portuguese custard tarts.
- Sintra (30 km away): Visit many historic sites such as the Palace of Pena (Palácio Nacional da Pena), the National Palace (Palácio Nacional de Sintra) and the Castle of the Moors (Castelo dos Mouros). Easily accessible by train or car from Lisbon (45 mins by train).
- Cascais (35 km away): This former fishing village was transformed in the second half of the 19th century into a fashionable seaside resort thanks to the Portuguese king D. Luis I and the nobility of the time had magnificent houses built there. Cascais has since become a lively, cosmopolitan town easily accessible by train or car from Lisbon (30 to 40 minutes by train).
