Orange trees, white flowery facades ... the old town of Marbella displays a typical Andalusian character. At its heart, we find the Plaza de Los Naranjos, with its Renaissance style, as well as the ancient Casa del Corregodir dating from the 17th century. Other monuments, such as the Iglesia Mayor de la Encarnación, are worth visiting.
The city is also attractive for its beaches and golf facilities.
In terms of culture, the Feria y Fiestas de San Bernabé and Holy Week in particular are major events.
The Botanical Gardens are home to more than 8,000 species. The building has a 17 metre high waterfall. To recreate the natural habitats of plants, the building is divided into two distinct zones. One space is dedicated to species from the American continent and a second environment to the plants and orchids of Asia. The gardens offer more than 200 square meters of vertical gardens. Be sure to go and explore them.
Some of the walls in Estepona are a genuine open air museum. The facades have been used as giant canvases by different artists. As you stroll round the various buildings you discover 20 or so original paintings. They are part of the "Ruta de los Murales", or Artistic mural route.
Visitors can expect a completely different approach to art.
This fine sandy beachis the most iconic in Estepona. In addition to its well deserved reputation and all the services on offer (including facilities for people with disabilities), one of the main advantages of this beach is its proximity to the town's main streets, which is very handy for people who want to visit the town and enjoy the beach on the same day.
The promenade behind the beach gets very busy during the summer. There is also a party atmosphere in the beach bars, particularly at the weekend.
Estepona marina is much more than just a harbour: It is a wonderfully lively place where you can admire the beautiful boats that come to anchor in this marina, as well as enjoying the many bars and restaurants that border the marina. The market that comes here every Sunday also adds to the lively feel of this place.
And for the icing on the cake, the sunset here is beautiful, creating some fabulous colours in the sky. What's more, on a clear day, you can even pick out Africa and Gibraltar.
