      Medieval fortress of Korcula

      Korcula is an ancient fortified town.
      The ramparts surrounding the city were built in the 13th century, and it was between the 14th and 15th centuries that the town took on its present form.
      Korcula is a typical example of Dalmatian architecture at the time of the Republic of Venice.

      Today it is possible to enjoy a tour of the fortress by following the fortifications and the ramparts, which connected the towers to each other.
      You will enter the town via the Land Gate, on which you will see the coat of arms of Venice.

    • Arboretum of Trsteno

      Arboretum of Trsteno

      The Arboretum was established at the end of the 15th century. The exact date that its construction commenced is not known, but it already existed in around 1492. The Arboretum was declared a natural rarity in 1948, when it was bequeathed to the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In 1962, the Arboretum of Trsteno was recorded in the list of protected natural monuments as a monument of landscape architecture. The protected area covers approximately 255,000 square meters.

      Fortress of Ston (Croatia)

      The fortress of Ston was built in the 14th century, in an exceptional natural setting, between sea and mountains. You can also see the salt pans down below.
      The town of Ston is best known for its walls, which are the longest fortification in Europe, and whose construction began in 1333 for the defence of the peninsula of Peljesac. If you make your way along the length of these fortifications, you will come across about forty watchtowers in total.
      Another 890-meter rampart also surrounds the city.
