    Blayes Citadel

Built between 1685 and 1689 by architect François Ferry, the Citadel in Blaye is a 38-hectare former military complex. Fully fortified, its prime objective was to protect the port of Bordeaux. It is surrounded by curtain walls, four bastions and three ravelins. A listed historic building since 2009, the citadel is now a prime location for many events in the region, including the regional book fair and Marché du Vin (wine market).
