St-Martin Basilica in Aime
Located on the road from Milan to Vienna, this museum space is at the heart of a valley which was very popular with the Romans, who liked the climate here. Under Roman rule, the town became the capital of the Alpes Graies province.
Objects exhibited at the Pierre Borrione Museum bear witness to this era, as do the foundations of a Roman building. These foundations are now partly covered by a church, a jewel of Savoy Romanesque art: the Basilica of St. Martin was classed as a historic monument in 1875.
Although it is no longer a place of worship, the church invites contemplation and silence. Explore the semi-subterranean crypt, Roman engraved stones and twelfth century frescoes.
Golf Le Chantel
The Chantel Golf Course is one of the two golf courses of Les Arcs. Overlooking the Tarentaise, this 18 hole course is enhanced by breathtaking views of the ski area and Mont Blanc.
Its varied terrain is an opportunity for golfers to work the full range of their shots: drive, putting, swing…
Experienced players will find it a high quality course to challenge their skills, beginners will also find it suited to their needs.
Moûtiers History and Archaeology Museum
This museum dedicated to the history of Moutiers and the Tarentaise presents an immersion in local history, spanning prehistory to the nineteenth century, also describing the city's role in Roman times. Five exhibition spaces are open to the public to view the local and archaeological collections from Moûtiers.
The story of Galla is examined through various Latin texts. Learn all about her life and career, and whether she represented the Christian presence in the region in ancient times.
The magnificent Ice Cave in Les Arcs is an artificial cave cut into more than 10 000m3 of artificial snow. This ephemeral phenomenon, which is open only in winter, takes a different theme each year. Discover this veritable work of art which sees a dozen sculptors from all over Europe come and create their own works of art each year. Stroll through these galleries which have been dug out and shaped by man, taking almost 100 days each year to prefect! Don't miss this rather special mountain wonder.
La Vanoise National Park
Explore one of the most extensive protected natural areas of Western Europe: the Vanoise National Park is ideal for family walks and long rambles. As you walk, appreciate the stunning beauty of the mountain scenery. The Vanoise National Park is notable too for the variety of species that you can come across. With luck, you will see the Vanoise Ibex or the hare.
The Vanoise National Park offers a myriad of hiking trails so you can fully discover the beauty of this land nestled between the Isere valley and the Maurienne.
