The Santa Lucia de Saint-Raphaël Port is located a few metres from down town. It is an important harbour for pleasure boating on the French Riviera. From this harbour you can sail along the Mediterranean coasts but also towards Corsica and Italy. The Santa Lucia Port has wide quays where people can stroll and stop at neighbouring boutiques.
The St. Raphael Archaeological Museum and its medieval church form a space dedicated to the archaeology of the Eastern Var.
This remarkable historical monument prompts visitors to walk in the footsteps of the first men of the Palaeolithic Esterel up until the metal age.
The museum's collections, including those from underwater excavations, yield valuable evidence on the region's origins and in particular the Gallo-Roman presence. But the museum itself is a subject of study with its medieval church and earlier remains uncovered by recent excavations.
Attached to the diocese of Fréjus - Toulon, the Church of Notre-Dame de la Victoire in Saint Raphael was elevated to the rank of Basilica in May 2004 by Pope John Paul II, as you can see in the papal coat of arms emblazoned on the main facade.
Located in the Var, the Basilica of Our Lady was built in red Esterel sandstone in the late 19th century by the architect Pierre Marie Simon Aublé.
The interior of the church recalls the decorations of the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.
