Bars and restaurants
Grandes Platières cable car
Take the Grandes Platières cable car and climb to an altitude of 2550 metres. From the top, the view over the peaks is superb. The whole of the Mont Blanc massif unfolds before your very eyes, and you can also catch a glimpse of peaks including the Aiguille Verte and the Aiguilles de Chamonix. The more athletic visitors will opt to walk back down (there are marked trails) or mountain bike.
Village and Mountain Cirque at Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval
In Haute-Savoie, the village that is nicknamed "Queen of the Alps" is of course ranked among the "most beautiful villages of France". The village of Six-Fer-à-Cheval is located in an exceptional natural environment, some 80% of the land is classified as a nature reserve.
The village of Six-Fer-à-Cheval comprises 24 hamlets on an area of more than 12,000 hectares.
The six classified sites of the village of Six-Fer-à-Cheval are: the cirque fer à Cheval, Waterfalls, the Gorges des Tines, the Alpine pastures and peaks. This area offers some wonderful walks.
Lac Bleu Activity Centre
If you're looking to let off steam and have some fun as a family, visit the Lac Bleu activity centre in Morillon! Comprising a mountain lake, a sandy beach, and multiple green spaces, this recreational area is free admission for all.
It offers activities everyone can enjoy: treetop adventures, trampolining, tennis, an eco-skating rink, horse-riding centre, and entertainment including concerts, children's shows and fishing competitions. There's also the breathtaking scenery to enjoy!
Gorges de la Diosaz
This is one of the finest sights of the Chamonix valley. Snaking through the mountains, the Diosaz gorges are reputed to be among the most beautiful in France.
This fascinating work of erosion reveals nature in its raw state. Throughout its course, signs explain the history of the gorge from its formation to the present day.
Though wild, this site is easily accessible, so that the whole family can enjoy this natural spectacle!
Le Brévent cable car
Sightseers can take the Brévent cable car from Chamonix that will transport them 2,525m above sea level unveiling Mont Blanc's southern slopes. The cable car is an easy way to take advantage of the breathtaking views.
Some lovely sights like Lake Cornu await trippers, and thrill seekers can make their way to the Grand Balcon Sud, which is a launching point for paragliding. Fans of climbing will be pleased with the proximity of the Plaques du Brévent, located only a five minute walk from the cable car. And for those who just want to relax and enjoy the scenery, the restaurants propose local cuisine and panoramic views.
