Hello,

This is by far the worst Pierre & Vacances resort I've ever stayed in.

From the moment we arrived, we received a very poor welcome. The reception was closed, even though we were arriving in the middle of a heatwave, with two children aged 2 and 5. It was nearly 40°C (104°F), and when we asked to wait a few minutes by the pool to cool off, a cleaning staff member refused to let us in. A complete lack of humanity.

Upon entering the accommodation, we found it filthy, with ants everywhere. I had the impression that it needed to be cleaned again before we could even move in.

The worst happened in the kitchen. I burned my finger with a first-degree burn from the light above the sink. A few moments later, the same light came loose and fell directly into the sink. Luckily, the tap wasn't running, because the consequences could have been disastrous. This is a serious safety issue that could have led to a much more serious accident.

Another very worrying point: the safety gate on the upper floor was broken. With a two-year-old child, we had to spend our entire stay locking him in a room to prevent him from falling.

Regarding the swimming pool, we were told over the phone that it was heated. Upon arrival, a sign clearly stated that it wasn't. This wasn't a problem during a heatwave, but at other times, it would have been very disappointing.

I absolutely don't understand how this residence can be rated 4 stars. This rating needs to be reviewed.

Finally, I requested a refund given all these problems. For over a week, I've been kept waiting, told I have to wait four weeks for a response. This timeframe was never communicated to me beforehand. If it had been, I wouldn't have accepted this procedure.

Last but not least: no air conditioning in a hotel advertised as a 4-star establishment. In the middle of a heatwave, this is simply unacceptable.

I strongly advise against this hotel. Avoid it if you want a peaceful holiday.

Hello

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I feel I must this time to prevent other vacationers from having the same experience.

We booked a stay from June 22nd to 26th at the Pierre & Vacances Le Crotoy residence in the Bay of Somme.

We specifically requested a ground-floor apartment and one that didn't face the afternoon sun.

We asked if there were shutters or blackout curtains and if we could open the windows to let in the cool night air. All of this was requested verbally directly to the residence, not in writing—a mistake we should have made. We trusted a large establishment like Pierre & Vacances.

When we arrived, after a 6-hour drive in the middle of a heatwave, and at 62 years old, we were given a ground-floor apartment facing the afternoon sun. It was stifling, extremely small, and the bedroom window couldn't be opened more than 10 cm for safety reasons, so there was absolutely no way to cool down. And they weren't proper blackout curtains. There was no air conditioning or fan available. A real shame for a 4-star hotel.

The establishment is aging, the sofa bed was damaged and therefore unusable.

We asked at reception if there was a larger room available, even if it meant paying extra, and received a negative response.

When we returned to hand in the keys 10 minutes later, we asked again if there was a larger room available because it seemed extremely difficult, even dangerous, to make the 6-hour drive back the same day, especially at 62 years old with my husband having a heart condition.

And then, the receptionist told us that she had just rented the last large room, so it was available at the first request!

We had a very difficult time getting back.

We filed a complaint with Pierre & Vacances hoping to get, if not a refund, at least a credit note so we could rent a second, larger apartment at the Belle Dune residence and visit the beautiful Bay of Somme.

We were refused; they took the receptionist's word for it, not ours.

We lost almost 800 euros.
The residence was rated 4 stars, but now I have serious doubts.

Don't make the same mistake we did: keep written records of your requests and ask all your questions.

It's a shame, we had a wonderful experience with Pierre & Vacances in Normandy, but that's over now. We won't risk booking with this establishment again, despite its reputation, and we expected some kind of compensation.

So, from now on, we'll use Airbnb, making sure to ask questions and keep all our correspondence in writing.

Thank you for reading to the end, for those of you who persevered, and good luck with your future trips. May our misadventure serve as a lesson to others.
Sincerely, Catherine

Very disappointing for the price paid. Keys were received at 4 pm even though we had checked in early and it was stiflingly hot.
The "sea view" is only visible from the garden.
The apartment is outdated. The bedding is poor.
The bedroom window, which opens onto the ground floor hallway, doesn't stay open (making ventilation impossible) and can't be opened by swinging it (so zero security).
The clothesline was filthy; we gave up on using it.
The parking system needs improvement; some people hold onto their spaces long after the next guests have checked in, blocking the area.
There are no parasols at the outdoor pool, so there's no shade!

Apart from that, it's well located in Le Crotoy. It has the advantage of having two swimming pools (maintained daily).

The residence is quiet.
There's an elevator to the upper floors.
The reception staff are friendly. The apartment's kitchen is well laid out and has plenty of storage space.
