Since its creation, Pierre & Vacances have integrated all social, economic and environmental stakes, particularly with the measures taken on certain sites, such as integration into the landscape or the controlling of the consumption of resources…
To reinforce its action the Group has committed itself to cooperating with the WWF (world association for the protection of nature) for a period of three years.
The uncontrolled growth of tourism can have severe consequences on the environment therefore all tourism operators must commit to making lasting development a part of their strategy and control all the repercussions of holiday population transfers. This way they can preserve the quality of their offer and ensure the continuity of their operation.

The cooperation between Groupe Pierre & Vacances and the WWF is designed to
:
• instigate environmental practices that are even more pronounced than they already are, by a policy for improvement of the management of Pierre & Vacances sites,
• integrate and associate negotiating parties with the progression of the Group (customers, shareholders, customer investors, associates) particularly in arousing public awareness with recreational and educational tools. These will permit the transmission of certain simple and clear messages.
Raising children's awareness (in the Pierre & Vacances Leisure Villages):
For Pierre & Vacances, this is a priority!

Children are our future! The future hinges on what we do today!
Wherever we go, sea or mountains, we continue our daily habits when we are on holiday. To encourage environmentally friendly actions:
• Tuesdays will have a nature theme,
• tools and "nature" workshops run by P&V teams will be included in holidays from July 2005.
The objective of this cooperation:
• to facilitate children's understanding of their immediate natural environment,
• to learn how to preserve it and to participate in its improvement in their daily lives and that of the people around them.

Raising employees' awareness:
From May:
• the creation of a "Pierre et Vacances and the environment" guide on Groupe Pierre & Vacances intranet
• the organization of an Awareness Day at the Group's Head Office in Paris on1st June:
• conference on the partnership agreement and its stakes,
• calculation of our "ecological footprint",
• discovery of the WWF Exhibition "Planète Attitude".

Pierre & Vacances salaried employees and other associates will become players in the setting up of an Environmental Management Plan for the Artois site.

Environmental Management:
Too often, paper is not just used, but very much over-used and this must be curbed. The Group's Head Office will be the subject of a Paper Management Improvement Plan. Simultaneously a strong incentive will be given to the improvement of the management of the Belle-Dune pilot site:
• realization of a diagnosis phase on the management of resources (water and energy) and refuse,
• identification of areas for improvement,
• recommendation and assessment of important actions.

It is by these actions that Groupe Pierre & Vacances wishes to adopt a policy of continuous improvement and it is with the mobilization of all that we will be able to proceed step-by-step, and to progress and improve daily.

A set of tools will assist in the gaining of understanding of the natural environment:
board games, educational kits, special awareness days organized by PV Leaders.
Training in environmentally friendly actions:
• a "snakes and ladders" nature game (remodelled version),
• a game of questions/answers on the environment,
• games involving direct contact with nature,
• the book "Planète Attitude Junior" on sale at all our sites (revenues from which will go to the WWF),
• an additional feature: the calculation of our ecological footprint.
